Design an orangery that feels architecturally native to the home, using painted timber detailing to echo the property’s traditional stone façade and elevate its connection to the garden.
Nestled in the Oxfordshire countryside, this Chipping Norton orangery was crafted to honour the home’s heritage architecture while introducing a refined, light-filled living space. Painted timber pilasters and fascia were custom-designed to replicate the tone and texture of the existing stonework, creating a seamless visual dialogue between the original house and the new extension.
• Stone-Mimicking Timber Detailing
Pilasters and fascia were milled from high-grade timber and painted in a bespoke colour blend to reflect the natural hues of the home’s stone exterior. The result is a façade that feels authentic, tactile, and timeless.
• Symmetrical Glazing Design
Georgian-style windows with arched transoms and slim mullions enhance the orangery’s classical proportions, while allowing generous light into the space.
• Garden-Facing Orientation
Positioned to overlook a landscaped garden with lavender borders and a stone terrace, the orangery invites nature into the home.
• Interior Styling
Soft linen furnishings, oak flooring, and heritage lighting create a warm, elegant atmosphere that complements the exterior’s traditional aesthetic.
• Seasonal Versatility
With solar-control glazing and underfloor heating, the orangery remains comfortable year-round—ideal for morning coffee, evening reading, or weekend entertaining.
The Chipping Norton orangery has become a defining feature of the property—praised for its architectural sensitivity and lifestyle value. The painted timber detailing not only echoes the home’s original stonework but elevates it, reinforcing Farrow & Jones’s reputation for craftsmanship, heritage, and thoughtful design.
