Create a timeless, light-filled living space that connects seamlessly to the garden. Incorporate traditional architectural detailing, premium materials, and year-round comfort.
This Hampshire orangery was designed to enhance both lifestyle and legacy. Built onto a period property in a quiet village setting, the extension balances heritage charm with contemporary performance. From the symmetry of its French doors to the crown moulding beneath the lantern, every detail was considered to elevate the space emotionally and architecturally.
• Painted Hardwood Framing
Structural sapele hardwood, factory-finished in slipper satin, offers durability and visual warmth. The framing defines the orangery’s geometry with crisp, tactile precision.
• Dual French Door Sets
Two sets of French doors anchor the long elevation. Their slender stiles and classic proportions invite natural light while maintaining a traditional aesthetic.
• Orangery Lantern with Crown Moulding
A central roof lantern draws daylight deep into the space. Beneath it, a custom crown moulding wraps the perimeter, adding architectural rhythm and a refined ceiling line.
• Engineered Oak Flooring
Wide-plank European oak, UV-oiled for a natural matte finish, grounds the space in warmth. Its honeyed tones and subtle grain complement the painted joinery and garden views.
• Layered Lighting Scheme
Discreet LED uplighting within the lantern recess, pendant task lighting create a flexible, ambient environment from day to night.
• Garden Integration
Flush thresholds and adjacent stone paving extend the living space outdoors, allowing the orangery to function as a true indoor-outdoor hub.
The completed orangery has become the heart of the home—a space for morning coffees, weekend gatherings, and quiet reflection. It reflects Farrow & Jones’s ethos: combining artisanal detailing with modern comfort to create spaces that endure in both form and feeling.
