Why timber remains the finest choice for an orangery

Since the seventeenth century, handcrafted timber has remained the gold standard for architectural orangeries. Properly specified and maintained, solid Sapele hardwood delivers exceptional natural beauty, structural integrity and genuine thermal efficiency that synthetic alternatives cannot replicate.

Key Features

Every wooden orangery we create is entirely bespoke, conceived around the architecture, proportions and character of your home. At the heart of each build is solid Sapele, a dense West African hardwood with a tight, interlocking grain. It's naturally knot-free, resists rot, looks incredibly beautiful, prevents the transfer of heat and holds its shape through decades of British weather.

Best-in-class modern timber for decades of enjoyment

Timber has been used for windows, doors and indeed orangery extensions throughout Britain for centuries. The material has constantly been adapted, and previous concerns about upkeep no longer apply thanks to the application of modern hardwood, such as our Sapele frames. Factory-applied Teknos coatings are microporous, flexible and act as shields against the weather, extending re-coat cycles to eight or ten years rather than one or two.

Sapele’s density and tight grain mean it blends naturally into the surrounding countryside, which is exactly why it’s often preferred for conservation area projects. It offers genuine thermal performance too, meaning the frame helps keep warmth inside during winter and heat out in summer, sourced sustainably and built to last decades, not years. We’re confident that you’ll love the aesthetic appeal, intricate graining and premium feel that synthetics cannot replicate. The orangery roof lantern at the apex lets high quality natural light flow in from all angles.
